Paula, my friend from the McDonald's drive-thru is incredible. She exhibits such a joyful attitude and she never fails to make me smile. My Sunday ritual is to grab a Dr. Pepper at McDonald's before church and most Sunday mornings, I get to see Paula. One morning, the line was stalled and we just started chatting. This was when I really started to value my interactions with her.
Now, I pull up and when there is a car in front of me ordering, I listen closely to hear if it is Paula. When it is, my heart smiles a little.
Paula.
Ordinarily Awesome.

The DL (also known as a life update).
Here's what I currently am doing in life (just in case you would like to know)...
1) I go to grad school. Pretty exciting, I know. I am taking the Psych of Women and Advanced Stats...fun.
2) I lead 3 discussion groups of Human Sexuality.
3) I coach basketball - a crew of 6th graders.
4) I am involved in a weekly prayer meeting.
5) I ride my bike to school everyday.
6) Soon, I will be working with the youth at church.
7) I am doing research on infidelity, gender roles, and reliousity.
That's really about it...

15A.
Today, I was remembering a bit about this summer at camp, and in fact, the last four summers.
I was lucky to have some great campers who made me laugh. One particular memory comes into mind. On our trip out (a privilege for Bunk 15), they decided to buy a small aquarium and two fish (later named Nemo and Dory). The fish survived for maybe a week, living in our bunk. One day, they discovered that Nemo was "fins up." They staged a funeral during rest hour and wore all black to lunch. They proceeded to release Dory into the lake, where she faced certain and immediate death (though this was unconfirmed).
I had the privilege of watching them grow up from 12 year olds who were the top dogs at the Inter socials to the oldest bunk at camp this summer (Bunk 15). My bunk has been apart of my camp experience every year and they will be missed at camp this summer.
Here's to summers at One Great Place.
