C.S. Lewis, William James, and a prayer
I found these passages interesting. From C.S. Lewis's The Problem of Pain:
"But if suffering is good, ought it not to be pursued rather than avoided? I answer that suffering is not good in itself. What is good in any painful experience is, for the sufferer, his submission to the will of God, and, for the spectators, the compassion aroused and the acts of mercy to which it leads."
"Our Father refreshes us on the journey with some pleasant inns, but will not encourage us to mistake them for home."

From William James's The Varieties of Religious Experience:
"Peace cannot be reached by the simple addition of pluses and elimination of minuses from life."

God,
Fill in the cracks of my brokenness. Open my eyes to see your presence evident in my life.
Amen.

brokenness.
Some days this is apparent more than others. This has been an entire week like that. My inadequacies have been glaringly present. My shortcomings have been highlighted by myself and by others.
What now?

Here I Am
I am sitting in bed, typing this on my iPod. It's 1:32 a.m. I have decided that rejection is probably one of the hardest things for me to handle. I applied to three graduate programs and have been rejected by two out of three of them. It took such a leap of faith to finally decide to commit to Psychology fully and now I am starting to question my decision, even though I believe strongly that it was the right one.
I think God will open up opportunities for me. Let's hope at least. Now to try and sleep?

And yet...
I should be doing homework...and yet, here I am blogging. It's been long and arduous three or four weeks. It's all been a blur really.
Honestly, I feel as if I am stuck between being lost and being found....having no clue who I am as person and yet feeling more direction than I have in a long time.... As if I am on the brink of disaster or something huge... The pendulum has yet to decide which way it will swing. It has me frazzled to be honest.
God has been working in many ways in my life, and for that, I am grateful.
My prayer this week:
God, help me be a reflection of your light. Help me continue to pursue You with a sense of desperation that leads to a humble reliance on You.
Amen.

Dare You to Move....
This has been on repeat on the IPod for about a month now. In fact, I have only been listening to three songs. This song speaks to me on so many different levels.

"Dare You to Move"
Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?
Chorus:
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before
Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be
[Chorus]
Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here
[Chorus]
